The test lab at Fraunhofer IKTS has been accredited to perform five non-destructive test (NDT) methods.

At the Accredited Test Lab at Fraunhofer IKTS, classic non-destructive testing (NDT) is performed on metals, non-metals, ceramics, and composites using both standard and in-house NDT methods. In operation for more than 20 years now, the test lab at Fraunhofer IKTS in Dresden can also provide support in solving particularly challenging or highly specialized measurement and testing problems.

The test lab has received accreditation from the Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle (DAkkS) as a specialized NDT test lab and full-service provider for five classic methods of non-destructive materials testing: ultrasonic, eddy current, penetrant, magnetic particle, and visual testing.

This status has only been achieved by a few test laboratories and enables the test lab to validate ultrasonic and eddy current test methods developed in-house and apply them like standard methods for clients. In this way, new test technologies can be put to use faster than standardization processes allow. For penetrant, magnetic particle, and visual testing, the test lab can select freely between all available standards in a defined test range. This has the advantage that equivalent standards can be used for testing without the need for prior DAkkS approval. Methods developed at Fraunhofer IKTS can thus be validated more quickly and used cost-efficiently. The protection and privacy of client data and tasks are guaranteed.
