NDT4INDUSTRY – Recent developments in advanced NDT
At the Fraunhofer IKTS site in Dresden-Klotzsche our focus is on developing advanced non-destructive testing solutions for ceramics and many other materials.
We are constantly working on new solutions. We would like to present some of these to you in our new NDT4INDUSTRY online seminar series.
We want to make it live and interactive – so keep watching!

Testing and monitoring of nuclear facilities – current NDT developments
with Prof. Henning Heuer (Systems for Testing and Analysis), Dr. Bianca Weihnacht (Methods for Monitoring Systems) and Dr. Katrin Viehweger (Technical Electrolysis and Geothermal Energy).
Breakthroughs in ultrasonics, eddy current, acoustic analyses and x-ray technologies allow a fresh look for experts in the field of testing and monitoring nuclear facilities.
Based on the experience with sensitive nuclear infrastructures at the Dresden-Klotzsche site of Fraunhofer IKTS in the past, this seminar will highlight current developments and show potential applications at nuclear facilities.
Prof. Henning Heuer will focus on how ultrasonics and eddy current can be used to test thin tubes, weld seams, detect cracks or wall erosion even in liquid melts. And Dr. Bianca Weihnacht will talk about the development of monitoring solutions at the institute and show possible applications of industry proven methods to monitor plant components during operation.
Dr. Katrin Viehweger (Technical Electrolysis and Geothermal Energy) will demonstrate how facilities at our radionuclide laboratory allow a unique possibility to transfer latest technologies to applications in development, operation and dismantling of nuclear facilities.
