NDT4INDUSTRY – Recent developments in advanced NDT

At the Fraunhofer IKTS site in Dresden-Klotzsche our focus is on developing advanced non-destructive testing solutions for ceramics and many other materials.

We are constantly working on new solutions. We would like to present some of these to you in our new NDT4INDUSTRY online seminar series.

We want to make it live and interactive – so keep watching!

From fiber to component – Current testing and monitoring techniques for CFRP

with Dr. Kilian Tschöke (Condition Monitoring and Test Services) and Martin Schulze (Eddy Current Methods)

NDT4INDUSTRY goes Webseminar Wednesday! For our next seminar, we are pleased to accept the invitation from Composites United e.V. to present our expertise in the testing of CFRP as part of Webseminar Wednesday.

Carbon fibre-reinforced components are used for highly stressed structures, not only because of their comparatively low weight, but above all because of their high strength. These include containers and pressure vessels as well as vehicle components or support structures. Whether in environmental, energy or process engineering – who monitors critical parameters on key plant components and processes, detects weak spots at an early stage and can thus reduce downtimes, increase employee safety, and reduce operating costs in the long term.

At Fraunhofer IKTS automated testing and monitoring technologies are developed based on ultrasonics and eddy current for the detection of manufacturing defects such as delamination or deviations in layer alignment during series production. In our next seminar, Martin Schulze and Kilian Tschöke present for example systems for the testing of multiaxial high-performance carbon fiber fabrics (NCF) in full production width or the non-destructive testing and permanent monitoring of H2 pressure vessels.

Fraunhofer IKTS provides the entire development chain of a monitoring system: from the model-based design of the sensor networks, through the production and integration of the sensors, to the development and provision of the necessary measuring hardware to the testing in our accredited test laboratory. This webinar provides an overview of current non-destructive testing and monitoring techniques, presents system integration options and discusses the possibilities and limitations of the methods.
