The SRE is used in the inspection of railroad tracks and switches. The mobile, hand-held inspection device uses ultrasound to detect defects on the tracks and enables networked inspection data management. The SRE impressed the jury of the SET4FUTURE Innovation Award, especially in the areas of degree of innovation and economic benefit.

With the SRE, track maintenance planning is simplified through efficient and condition-oriented planning measures as well as rail processing. In addition to long-term access to inspection data for quality control and data analysis, the inspection device offers interfaces for integrating inspection results into the customer's digitized process chains.

The ultrasonic testing device is equipped with modular testing electronics and PCUS©pro software developed by Fraunhofer IKTS and can be ordered as a product or as a rail inspection service.

With the top 3 placement at the SET4FUTURE Innovation Award, the SONIQ RAIL EXPLORER has qualified for the ERCI Innovation Award. The prize, awarded by the European rail cluster initiative ERCI, honors Europe's most innovative products, technologies, solutions, and business models that are a flagship for the railroad technology of the future.
