Deputy Institute Director Prof. Dr. Stelter (centre) and Dr. Weidl (left), head of system integration and technology transfer, explain the mechanics of the ceramic high-temperature battery to Minister Tiefensee.

During a walk through one of IKTS‘s production lines Mr. Tiefensee learned about the manufacturing of ceramic tapes. They are the base material for sensors used to provide data on manufacturing processes and its quality parameters. This is part of the digitalisation of industrial processes – also known as »Industry 4.0«. In Hermsdorf, IKTS runs several such technology lines, producing, for example, ceramic battery components, which make use of such sensors.

The minister also talked to representatives of the TRIDELTA CAMPUS HERMSDORF e.V.. This local initiative connects the IKTS with a network of high tech companies and aims to increase the visibility and appeal of Hermsdorf as a hub for industrial innovation.
