The “Industrial Data Technologies” working group at Fraunhofer IKTS in Arnstadt sees itself as a driving force behind digital transformation in science, industry, and knowledge transfer. Its goal is to make complex data worlds manageable and to tap into new value creation potential through innovative software solutions. The focus is on data modeling, data aggregation, data processing, and visualization, which serve as the foundation for a future-oriented, data-driven industry.
The development of modular microservices – based on open-source technologies or as specialized in-house developments – results in flexible architectures that can be seamlessly integrated into existing software ecosystems and expanded in a targeted manner. This allows measurement, meta, process, and quality data to be linked and evaluated holistically. Our systems are used in production, quality assurance, and measurement and testing environments, creating scalable platforms for precise process management, reliable quality control, and innovative applications.
Another integral component is our training center, which strengthens the transfer of knowledge between science and industry. Here, we develop needs-based digital learning environments and blended learning formats that combine self-learning offerings (e.g., Moodle courses, videos, simulations) with practical training. In this way, we support research institutions, industry, and SMEs in building and maintaining competencies in key areas such as decarbonization, digitalization, and production systems.
We help to systematically preserve, structure, and pass on knowledge – through digital learning environments, media education concepts, and sustainable learning infrastructures. Our multiple Moodle use-cases give us extensive experience in setting up and integrating digital learning platforms – expertise that we consistently apply in projects involving knowledge transfer, continuing education, and industrial applications.
