Fraunhofer IKTS develops customized ceramic materials, components and systems for the most demanding aviation and aerospace applications. Whether high-frequency technology for 6G and satellite communications, energy-efficient fuel cell systems for lunar and Mars missions or structural components with high thermal loads – our solutions combine extreme temperature resistance, mechanical strength, low weight and functional integration at the highest level.

This portfolio is complemented by high-precision testing systems and condition monitoring technologies. For example, inline inspection systems ensure the quality of CFRP structures, embedded sensors provide precise data for the continuous monitoring of critical components and predictive models based on machine learning support predictive maintenance.

As a service provider for applied research, Fraunhofer IKTS has extensive experience in the planning and implementation of research projects of all sizes. Within the scope of contract research, we support industrial partners flexibly and on schedule with customized services or development processes through to the implementation of marketable products. In the case of complex large-scale projects with national and international consortium partners, we support the entire course of the project: from the application and coordination to the communication of results and the development of strategies for commercial exploitation.
