Electrification is a potential path for energy-intensive companies to increase efficiency and diversify their energy sources. Ceramic systems represent a promising alternative for selected high- and low-temperature processes. They offer high reliability, durability, and energy efficiency and perform well even under demanding operating conditions, such as high temperatures, corrosive atmospheres, or severe thermal stresses. As a result, processes that previously relied on the combustion of fossil fuels can increasingly be electrified.
To this end, the Fraunhofer IKTS provides not only traditional silicon carbide heating elements but also a broad range of materials for innovative heating conductor concepts. By combining modern ceramic materials with simulation, manufacturing, and integration processes, robust and compact solutions are created. In addition, additional functions such as sensors, electrical contacts, or catalysis can be integrated directly into the components.
