Test center for battery cells of different chemistries and sizes, including climate chambers and ovens.
Industrial computed tomography scanner including versatile evaluation software for non-destructive testing of small samples and entire assemblies weighing up to 50 kg.
Argon glove boxes with the ability to handle air-sensitive components of lithium and sodium batteries.
The “Chemometrics and Test Design” working group at Fraunhofer IKTS in Arnstadt deals with individual issues relating to battery technologies – both conventional and innovative. The measurement infrastructure includes industry-oriented battery test fields, which are linked to a digitized test center for efficient data processing. These are supplemented by chemical laboratories and a computer tomograph, for example for quality control. The team has extensive physical-chemical expertise and works closely with engineers and data scientists within the “Digitally Supported Systems and Services” department.
