IKTS scientist at ASEAN expert meeting on Railway Structural Health Monitoring (RSHM)

From March 7–9, 2017, RSHM experts from Thailand, ASEAN and European countries exchanged knowledge on recent developments in RSHM technologies in a training workshop, organized by Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research. The experts agreed to establish an international expert network to facilitate knowledge and technology transfer. Aim of the initiative, which is part of the “ASEAN Next 2017: Creating Smart Community through STI Collaboration” activity held by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Thailand, is to improve testing services in railway transport to strengthen the development of railway infrastructure for sustainable connectivity of Thailand to ASEAN.

Prof. Dr. Henning Heuer, Head of the Department “Systems for Testing and Analysis” at Fraunhofer IKTS presented the latest IKTS developments and competencies in this field. Further participants of the workshop were Thai representatives from the State Railway of Thailand, universities and local industries as well as representatives of five ASEAN Member states (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myammar, Philippine, Vietnam).
