Minister President Bodo Ramelow had announced a work visit to the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS in Hermsdorf. He was welcomed by deputy institute director and site manager Dr. Ingolf Voigt, as well as deputy institute director Prof. Dr. Michael Stelter.

The Minister President received a presentation on the broad scope of IKTS research topics, as well as the focal themes of the Hermsdorf site. He was especially interested to learn how high-performance ceramics can be used in the production of different battery types. He also spent much time on a tour of the facilities. In Europe’s most advanced center for ceramic tape casting, he received an introduction into the manufacturing process and application of ceramic tapes. In the institute’s laboratories, he talked to researchers and received insights into their current work, such as the research on methanation of hydrogen.
