Green visit to Hermsdorf

Katrin Göring-Eckardt, member of the German Bundestag and leader of the parliamentary group Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen, visited IKTS at its Hermsdorf site. It was the native Thuringian’s first visit to the ceramics research institute.

Hermsdorf is a ceramics town. Prof. Voigt shows Katrin Göring-Eckardt the corporate landscape of Tridelta Campus Hermsdorf.

Prof. Ingolf Voigt, site and deputy director of the institute, welcomed the visitor and introduced the institute, Hermsdorf as a historic ceramics town and the Tridelta Campus Hermsdorf local business initiative. Afterwards, the politician talked to employees. Students, specialists and executives of the institute discussed domestic, foreign and regional policy issues with the federal politician. During a subsequent tour of the institute building, Ms. Göring-Eckardt informed herself about the research work in the field of environmental technologies. Besides ceramic batteries from sustainable raw material sources, the research focus in Hermsdorf is on membrane technologies. Prof. Voigt showed the guest in the laboratories and pilot plants of the institute how ceramic membranes are used for the reduction of CO2 and for the filtration of waste water.
