Accredited NDT test lab in the field of ultrasonic testing

The safe and reproducible performance of ultrasonic tests, especially on complex structures, requires comprehensive know-how and many years of experience. Numerous international standards, which can vary greatly depending on the industry, determine the testing rules. The flexible accreditation according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 in categories 1 and 2 for ultrasonic testing qualifies the accredited NDT test lab of Fraunhofer IKTS from a neutral body – the German National Accreditation Body (DAkkS) – to modify as well as further and newly develop testing procedures. Thus, after a thorough validation, a new ultrasonic testing method can be applied similarly to a standardized method on site with the client. As a result, new testing technologies can be applied significantly faster than standardization processes would allow.

The spectrum of the test lab ranges from individual part testing to the testing of large quantities, also in multi-shift operation, to the construction of individual semi-automated testing systems for specific tasks. The test lab inspects components of various materials, geometries and component sizes for defects, regardless of their complexity or safety relevance.
