Congress / 10/14/2018 - 10/18/2018
In first-class lectures and during the accompanying exhibition visitors will experience current developments and trends in the field of powder metallurgy.
Novel glass heating elements
The powder technology route developed at Fraunhofer IKTS offers a new generation of glass and thus a promising alternative to expensive metal-based power resistors and heating elements. The energy- and cost-efficient process allows targeted microstructuring and high edge sharpness without post-processing.
Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) of multimaterial and hardmetal components
Researchers at Fraunhofer IKTS have extended the filament-based 3D printing process FFF, which has proven itself in plastics processing: it now enables the additive production of complex-shaped, large components made of high-performance ceramics, hardmetals or fiber composites. These can be individually functionalized by specific combinations of materials.
